Kinsey In Town!!

One of my best friends from high school, Kinsey, came to visit for the weekend. Jeb has been dying to go to the zoo, so we went this Saturday. We had a great time, I think Jeb had the most fun, but Jenna was pretty happy the whole time. Kinsey and I had such good time hanging out with Jenna and going to dinner and talking for hours. Thanks Kinsey for flying in to visit!! It was so great to spend time with you!

You might notice that Jenna is wearing 2 different outfits at the zoo. I decided to change her diaper in her stroller and Jenna decided to pee all over her clothes!!! Lovely!!

By Popular Demand!!!

Jenna got her first haircut yesterday by my good friend, Kate. Jeb and I were fine with her long mullet but were kinda tired of hearing other people's comments about it. I think she's cute no matter what so it never bothered me. But after being told she looked like a "cancer patient", I made the decision that something had to be done (I won't say who said that!:).

The pictures are a little out of order- So here is Jenna after her haircut having a tea party with Annabelle.

First, we got her hair wet. Then we realized that this high chair wouldn't work so I had to hold Jenna while Kate cut her hair. So I don't have any pictures of the actual haircut. Jenna squirmed and wiggles the whole time but Kate did a great job!

Easter Miracle!!!

I have been trying to get Jenna to take a bottle for a few weeks now. She refuses. She screams, cries, thrashes her head around and tries to escape from my arms. I've tried 4 different bottles, sippy cups, different nipples, different people holding her, different feeding times, different formulas, breast milk. You name it- I've tried it. Well, when Jenna was sick last week, I stopped trying to give her a bottle and just focused on getting her well. So yesterday, Jeb and I decided to try again and what do you know? She drank the whole bottle. Like it was no big deal. My eyes filled up with tears as I watched her drink it and I'm not sure if they were tears of joy or if I was sad that this means she doesn't need me as much anymore and is growing up. But then I snapped out of it and praised the Lord!!!


Update: I've tried twice today to give a bottle Jenna and she threw a fit both times. Guess I'll try next Easter!?

Good Times

Our nephew, Derek, turned one yesterday so we went to Jeb's brother's house for his party. I honestly don't think I've ever seen Jenna so happy and content. I don't know if it was the 80 balloons everywhere or seeing her grandparents and Aunt Sarah Jo, but she was all smiles. She LOVES her cousins, David and Derek. She just watches them and tries to grab/pinch them. It also could have been because we didn't make her wear her helmet to the party and she was sporting a new bow and shoes for the first time.
PS- I think she looks just like me in the picture. But I might be the only one...


Here she is with the birthday boy. She would try to grab Derek and he would shake his finger at her and say "no, no no!" They also had a squealing contest and would squeal back and forth at each other. It was pretty cute!

Unfortunately, mommy has been feeling pretty sick for the last couple of days. Fever, chills, soar throat. So I finally went to the TexasMedClinic on Sat. night and I have a sinus infection. Jeb has been amazing with Jenna. He got up with her this morning, gave her breakfast, gave her a bath, went on a walk, and played so I could sleep in. Then he made me waffles for breakfast. What a good daddy!!I was pretty bummed that we didn't get to go to church on Easter. We'll have to find another occasion for Jenna to wear her Easter dress. The only positive of being sick is that Jeb and Jenna have been spending a lot of quality one on one time.

Overnight Playdate

Jenna had an overnight play date this week with her friends Jack and Kendall. We went to my friend Katherine's ranch for the night. Jenna had such a good time "playing" with her friends. And mom had a great time hanging out with her friends Katherine and Renee. Thanks so much for inviting us Katherine! We had the best time!

Mamma Called the Dr. & the Dr. Said...

Jenna has not been feeling well for about a week now. She has a runny nose and cough. She has been waking up every 2 hours at night. (fun times for mom!) I finally took her to the doctor and Jenna has an ear infection. But since she started taking her medicine, she's been doing MUCH better and slept almost all night last night! Yeah! This is the first time Jenna has been sick and it just breaks my heart. I thought I had it rough, until I sat next to a mom in the waiting room with THREE sick kids! I can't even imagine. So I happily took home my one sick daughter and thanked God it was just an ear infection.
Update on the helmet: Jenna also went to the helmet shop and is showing progress!! The flat side has grown half a cm! That doesn't sound like much, but for her little head it is!

BFF

This is Jenna with her very best friend, Annabelle. Annabelle is my good friend, Kate's daughter and is exactly a year older than Jenna. They get really excited when they see each other and Annabelle loves to help Jenna put her pacifier back in and give her toys. Luckily, Annabelle lives just 4 streets over so we see them almost every day!!

Meet Truman:

Full name: Truman Leroy Lock Age: 7 years

Truman enjoys howling, barking at other dogs, going on walks and napping.

He dislikes squirrels, vacuum cleaners, brooms and Lola. He uses his ears as a sleep mask and when he drinks, they fall into the water bowl, leaving water everywhere!!!

Jeb has had Truman since he was in law school.

Full name: Lola Mae Borum Lock Age: 4

Lola enjoys barking at anything that goes by our window, snoring loudly, begging for table scraps and sleeping in between my legs at night.

She dislikes being outside, wet grass, dogs on TV and Truman.

I got Lola when I was single and teaching school.

We have two dogs but for some reason Jenna

loves Truman the best. I think because he's at her

eye level and he's just really sweet and gentle.

but our nephew David couldn't say that, so thus, Papoo.

He is a pretty quiet and serious man but NOT when

and talks to her in a cute baby voice. I love to

see them together.

Here's a picture from a wedding Jeb and I went to this Saturday. Jeb's parents came in town to watch Jenna for the night. It was fun to be out without Jenna but there were all these little girls at the reception that made me miss Jenna. I've been trying to get Jenna to take a bottle for the past week and she refuses. If anyone has any ideas or tips, PLEASE let me know!!! I'm desperate! I keep picturing myself going up to Jenna's kindergarten to breast feed her because she is so stubborn!

PS- I just chopped off all my hair. I pretty much have a mom hair cut now!

Jenna goes every 2 weeks to the "helmet shop" to get her head measured and her helmet adjusted. I kept asking the guy to shave the front of the helmet. I'm constantly cleaning carrots and sweet potatoes off the sides. Today they shaved part of the face so you can see more of her cheeks and forehead. Jeb says you can't tell a difference in the pictures, but to me, I can totally tell. What do you think?

I've been struggling what to do with Jenna's hair. It's totally a mullet and the helmet is causing her to go bald. When she has her helmet on, it flips out in the back and looks kinda like a tail. So do I cut her hair or not??

Work With Me People

Please excuse all my mistakes on my posts. I am still trying to figure out how to edit stuff. I have an upside picture and I hate the spacing but can't figure out how to change it!! AHHH! I need to take some blogging classes!

Jenna has adjusted really well to the helmet. It makes her little head get really sweaty (and kinda smelly-like dirty feet!). And it makes it really hard to kiss her head. My mom made a bunch of bows that Velcro on to match her outfits. I can't believe a month has already gone by! I'm so proud of Jenna. If I had to wear that thing on my head 23 hours a day, I would throw a fit!

Helmet Head

I have a feeling I am not the only one that is obsessed with looking at the Steece Quad's website. When they recently got their cranial bands, I thought, "oh, how sad" and "what a nightmare."

About a week later, Jenna's pediatrician was concerned with the shape of her head and referred us to a neurologist. She told us that Jenna would need a helmet to fix her flat head and since then, quite a journey has begun! Here are some pics of Jenna being fitted for the helmet.

Twist My Arm

OK- I promise, this is for real this time. I have started to feel guilty because I am totally obsessed with reading other people's blogs but have only posted ONCE on my own. So starting today, I promise to be more dedicated. I feel like my life is not that exciting but Jenna does make it more fun.
