I promise to write some captions for these pictures later but I've been crazy busy this past week and don't have time. But I figure the grandparents just want the pictures, so they'll be happy anyway!

Flashback Friday

This is one of my favorite pictures of Jenna when she was about the same age as Dylan now. She had just discovered her fist and man, it rocked her world. I would find her just staring at it for long periods of time. Until looking at this picture again yesterday, I had forgotten how big Jenna's cheeks were as a baby. I always remember her being so petite. It's just so amazing how much they change. And so wonderful.

Now fast forward 2 years, sportin her new sun hat from Grandma and her newest fake smile.

Playmates

I can't wait for the day when Jenna and Dylan can run around and play, have little conversations with each other and I pray, become great friends. Just seeing glimpses of it makes me so happy! Jenna continues to adore her brother and loves to be wherever he is.

And holding his hand, of course.

I've been meaning to post about another friend of Dylan's, Samuel Martin. Sam is Annabelle's new brother and Dylan's new BFF. They really have no choice about the matter, so I hope they grow to like each other! Dylan got to meet Sam just a few hours after he was born. They already share the same taste in swaddling blankets!

First Bites

For Dylan's 5 month birthday, I decided to let him try his first bite of rice cereal. I couldn't wait to see that "gag me" face that most babies make when they get their first taste of "food."

And he didn't disappoint. Gag me mom!I realized this was going to get messy and grabbed a bib. I think every bite I gave him came right out. But it's a learning process.
So of course Jenna insisted on trying some herself. I kept telling her she wasn't going to like it but try reasoning with a 2 year old.

Jenna has been a terrific big sister. Her new thing is that she always wants to be holding her brother's hand. Not quite sure he's as into it, but he tolerates her. She also has nicknamed her brother, "Bubs." Jeb and I get such a kick out of hearing her say things like, "You OK Bubs?" or "You want your toy Bubs?"

Momma and Bubs

5 months

Dylan turns 5 months tomorrow and of course it seems like just yesterday he was born. I don't even know if I've unpacked my bag from the hospital yet! Where does the time go?
This past month Dylan has really been changing. He smiles all the time, especially at his mama!

We tried out the Bumbo for the first time. Dylan wasn't a huge fan of it but his sister sure was!



Jenna sat down in it and squealed with delight, "My bottom fits perfectly!" She watches TV in it and eats her snacks in it. What can ya do?
Dylan has definitely been growing this month. Hello cheeks! At about 3 months, Dylan was sleeping through the night but at 4 months, he started getting up again 2 or 3 times. Booo. But he went from the 10% to the 50% in just 2 months! If you only knew how many times those cheeks get kissed a day!
He started playing with/chewing on toys. He makes the sweetest little cooing noises while he plays.

I had to include some pictures of what Jenna has been up to as well. She can really get "in the zone" with an activity and do it for over an hour. This is fine by me! On this day, she was playing with tissue paper and pretending it was blankets and she was a baby.

Recently, she has been really into "cooking." Which really just means playing with water and cups in the sink. But again, she'll do this for an hour and be totally content.

I couldn't decide which picture I liked best, so I had to post them all.

Jenna is wearing her brand new Stella and Dot jewelry. My friend Mellisa is a sales rep and gave Jenna this precious necklace and bracelet. Jenna hasn't taken it off since. Thanks Mel!

I get it now

I've never really understood the whole mother-son relationship. I don't have a brother so I never really observed it first hand. I kinda always thought mama's boys were sissies. But as my friends started getting married and some had "problems" with their mothers-in-law who wouldn't "cut the cord," I never really got it. Why or how is it so hard for a mother to let go of her son and let some other woman be number one in his life? What's the big deal?
Well, Dylan's only 4 months and I GET IT ! This little man has stolen my heart and I don't want him to ever grow up and especially not ever move out!! So sorry to your future wife, Dylan! She's in for it!

No other woman better ever make him smile this big! ;)

Ah, sigh. Stop growing up so fast, little man. And stay a mama's boy forever. Please.

Disclaimer- Before any negative comments start coming in- 1) I LOVE my mother in law. I really lucked out with her! She's the best and I hope Dylan loves me half as much as Jeb loves his mama! 2) I LOVE Jenna just as much as Dylan.

Employee Training

On the first Saturday of every month, you will find Jenna and Jeb at our local Home Depot for their Kids Workshop. Every month there's a different project to build and it's totally free! The kids earn little "badges" and a certificate each time. Jeb and Jenna both really enjoy this time together and I enjoy it by going to Starbucks or walking around Borders. Something quiet.

This month the kids made plant holders. I don't have any pics of Jenna actually making her project. I have a feeling Jeb has his hands full with Jenna and a hammer and nails. Asking him to take pictures didn't seem like a good idea. A lot of times I let Jenna paint whatever she made so here she is painting her plant holder...in her panties.
